Tom Waits meets Cookie Monster
My brother just sent this to me and it made me laugh out loud. I don't know how I've NEVER made this connection before, but now when Tom does the growly voice, I'm going to always picture Cookie Monster singing. ;)
Although his origins in the early 1960s preclude the possibility, I always used to think Rowlf the Dog was based on Tom. Now I realize that both Rowlf and Tom Waits are actually based on the same awesome barroom piano player archetype.
OMG, that's perfect! Whenever we hear a metal song with a bunch of screaming, my husband calls it "Cookie Monster vocals".
