Mostly, I write about television, and with this being the home of the Great Buffy Rewatch of 2011, a lot of that television is Joss Whedon-related (when it's not about Lost). Stick around if you love Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead, Sherlock, Lost, BtVS, Doctor Who, or anything on HBO.

Buffy Rewatch Week 48: Spoiler Forum
And once again here we are to discuss spoilers on Buffy and Angel. Not that there are many left in either one! (Though we do have another full season of Angel left.)
Blurgh, Kennedy! Bluuuurgh! And now that I got this out of my system...
Maybe because my observation skills suck, or maybe because I'm stupid, or maybe because I just love Giles too much and denial has proven to work for me in such cases, I never even considered Giles to be the First before they made that whole story in what-episode-was-that-again (the Season 7 lack of memory I talked about in the other forum). I just assumed he escaped death because he's awesome.
Colleen: That 'is Giles the First' subplot is soooo lame.
I've gotta say, when I first watched the season (as it aired) I started to wonder just when they wanted me to and it felt like a cool Sixth Sense bait-and-switch — but I wasn't re-watching immediately, so I didn't know how much of his lack of corporeal interaction was in my head versus intentional; I did wonder in retrospect if, like "What does Spike mean by what Buffy deserves?", it would be a cheat where the misdirection wouldn't feel kosher once the truth was known.
Let's keep the foreshadowing comments re Season Eight (and beyond) at least this vague, please...
Colleen: That Xander being the one who watches is so ironically sad.
Efthymia, I don't remember suspecting Giles the first time through either. I like your idea that we could never suspect something like that about Giles since we adore him so much! :)
The First possessing Willow sets her up for her fear in the finale.

There's been a few references to William being abused at school. Is that why he finds the Head Boy and Wesley thing so teasible?
Xander defends Dawn - comic book foreshadowing?

ReplyDeleteDusk (on main comments page): Yes, Kennedy is that bad
But... But she has a tongue ring!
gredug — Hello from the nasally congested.

Hard to talk with a tongue piercing.
