First posts are always the hardest, because if you didn't have a million topics to talk about, why start a blog? I think for the first post I'll skip the million topics (I'll reserve those for the second post) and instead just introduce myself. Some readers know me as Nikki Stafford, which is a pen name . . . but I'm used to it now, so I answer to it. I write companion guides to television shows, which have complete episode guides to each season, written as if I were sitting down and discussing the episodes with the reader. I'm best known for my book, Bite Me! An Unofficial Guide to the World of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, which was published in 2002. The book covered the first six seasons of Buffy, and in 2004 I published Once Bitten: An Unofficial Guide to the World of Angel. I've had a lot of people ask me when I'm going to put out season 7 of Bite Me, and it's actually in the back of Once Bitten. Perhaps I should have just published it on its own. ;) All of my books have been published by ECW Press.

My new book is called Finding Lost: The Unofficial Guide, and it's taken up most of my life for the past 7 months, which is why I'm only starting this blog now. I handed in the final part of the manuscript on June 30th, and am currently plowing through Our Mutual Friend to hand in a final chapter to my editor (Lost fans will know the significance of this book). I adore the show, but I'm cursing the writers for choosing an 800-page book to drop in during the season finale. Ugh.

My writing is a task relegated to my evenings and weekends; my day job is as a book editor, working with first-time writers, experienced writers, novelists, non-fiction authors, memoirists . . . it's a great job, and I couldn't imagine doing anything else.

So that's a bit about me. Don't worry: my next posts will be far more interesting. ;)

How exciting! I'll be waiting with bated breath for the next installment -- well, I'll be passively waiting until Bloglines tells me you've updated, but you get the drift!.

Forget the book, what about the never-ending myriad of Lost minutae on the Hanso Foundation Web site, Persephone, and the Lost Experience. How are working people like me supposed to keep up???

All the best!
