Mostly, I write about television, and with this being the home of the Great Buffy Rewatch of 2011, a lot of that television is Joss Whedon-related (when it's not about Lost). Stick around if you love Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead, Sherlock, Lost, BtVS, Doctor Who, or anything on HBO.
What an intelligent and articulate summary by Michael Emerson--and I say that not just because I'm in total agreement about what he said! I never expected his character to undergo the redemption that ultimately occurred, and was so pleased at how both he and Hugo ended up vis-a-vis the Island. Thanks again, Mr. Emerson!
Like Michael Emerson, I was convinced Ben was a goner this season, possibly in the last few episodes, but still not going to survive the finale. I'm glad I was wrong :) It's true, Hurley and Ben are an odd couple - yet it feels right, doesn't it? That's actually how I feel about the finale in general. It was weird, unexpected and left a lot of things in the air... yet at the same time it was as if everything fell into place.
I just adore Michael Emerson. He is so well-spoken and articulate. I think he summed up Ben's role really well. I'm so pleased that his character got a chance to redeem himself in the end.
In (this?) interview with G4's "Attack of the Show," "Lost" Emmy award winner Michael Emerson revealed that there is an "epilogue, a lost scene" on the upcoming "Lost" DVD collection that was not part of the series finale this past Sunday.
Emerson hinted that it will be around 14 minutes in length, and will explain more about what happened after Jack died on the island and Hurley and Ben took over as its protectors.
We were given an idea in one of the final scenes that these two were on the island for a long period of time, in an exchange between the two characters while in purgatory, but this is the first time we've been told that we might actually see some footage of their time "in charge."
It's unclear whether this footage will be part of the sixth season DVD set, or only in the full series set.
I have multiple-posted this on other sections here so as many of you as possible can know about this.
I absolutely love Michael Emerson. Shortly after Ben's debut on the show, I begin to post on my Facebook about how much I adored Ben and how I was convinced he was ultimately going to be one of the "good guys" by the end of the series. Needless to say, I endured a lot of scoffing and ridicule. So you have NO idea how happy I was with the way the story of Benjamin Linus ended. It's not often I am right about something, so it felt really, really nice. :) One thing I am rather worried about, to be honest, is that all of these wonderful actors are now going to be typecast. Michael Emerson will always be Benjamin Linus, Matthew Fox will always be Jack Sheppard, Jorge Garcia will always be Hurley, etc, no matter what the do or how they branch out. They are far too good and too deserving for that to happen to them as actors, and I worry about that.
You have to love Michael Emerson. He always such a nice pause to his thoughts. And agree with him when he said that people were 'lead' to 'sympathize' with the character. I sure know that in The End, when Sawyer hits him with his elbow, my reaction was: Oh no! Poor Ben gets it again. And I do love the fact that at the end, like he mentioned, the 2 least likely characters to be put together would 'finish running the island' together, being him and Hurley.
WV, cesso: the action I make when I cease talking. :)
His comments about Ben and Hurley being polar opposites and ending up together, together with the news of an "epilogue" to be released, just might be setting up the spinoff: "The Odd Couple - LOST in the Pacific"
I love Michael Emerson!

ReplyDeleteI love the way he says "Aaah-lex". He says it the same "tender" way every time
