Mostly, I write about television, and with this being the home of the Great Buffy Rewatch of 2011, a lot of that television is Joss Whedon-related (when it's not about Lost). Stick around if you love Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead, Sherlock, Lost, BtVS, Doctor Who, or anything on HBO.

RIP: Nunu
Some sad news today on Jorge Garcia's blog: As he and his girlfriend Beth were heading to the airport to leave Hawaii and move back home, their little dog Nunu accidentally got away from them and ran into traffic, where she was hit by a car. They've buried her on the island.
If you're a follower of Jorge's very fine blog, you'll know how much this dog means to both he and Beth. I was telling my daughter the story after I picked her up from school, and she said, "It's good they buried her there, Mommy, because now that she's an angel she'll be able to play in the place she liked the most!" I feel the same way... What a terrible thing to have happened. Nunu, who made a special appearance in Lost this season in "Everybody Loves Hugo" (pictured above), was a star to all of Jorge's blog readers. But more importantly, she was a dear friend to him and Beth. My heart goes out to both of them, and I hope they're doing OK. It's always so hard to lose a family member who means so much.
May she be in a place where the entire world is a giant chew toy.
Poor little Nunu... so sad :(
ReplyDeleteSo sad for Jorge and Beth. When our little Cali died, friends told us she is waiting at the Rainbow bridge, with all the other dogs. One day we'll come along, and then we'll all go off together.
ReplyDeleteSo sad. I live near Jorge and Beth in Lanikai. Great having them as neighbors, horrible to have this happen to them. It's a beautiful Pet Garden where they're going to bury her, though. Right near the temple where they filmed Sun and Jin's wedding.
ReplyDeleteI had a cat for 19 years once (I got him when I was 9) and someone sent me that poem when he died, and I thought it was just lovely:
ReplyDeleteJust this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
Omg I'm crying as I type this. How horrible!!! I have dogs and I just lost one a few months ago. I feel for them.
ReplyDeleteevery time I see this I cry for everyone involved Jorge and Beth we are thinking good thoughts for you.
ReplyDeleteSo horribly sad! My condolences go out to Nunu's parents!
ReplyDeleteI, too, have a precious chihuahua, and I know I will grieve terribly when her time comes...but to experience a freak accident like this...my heart goes out to them.
How sad... I know how much Nunu meant to both of them :(
ReplyDelete"You think dogs will not be in heaven?
ReplyDeleteI tell you, they will be there long before any of us."
-Robert Louis Stevenson
That’s because they don’t need to wait in the sideways world for redemption...
My condolences, Jorge and Beth :(
ReplyDeletethat is so sad, and this is what I worry about when my dog gets out. just checked out the blog by Jorge and he seems to be a regular type "dude', loved him in Lost and will miss him and all of the other characters. it will be interesting to see where they all end up.
ReplyDeleteOT: it would really be interesting to see behind the scenes and how they filmed Lost. perhaps later.
Losing your pet is so hard. My heart goes out Jorge and Beth....RIP Nunu...
ReplyDeleteWhat a sad way to end your time in paradise! I know what he is going thru! My daughter had a Jack Russell~aka Princess Lulabell DevilDog! My husband was gaga over her & she was so important to my daughter. One day, she just took off when my husband was 'babysitting' her & was in the road in a nanosecond! The car hit her so hard it broke her collar in half! They didn't even stop! My daughter was crushed! My husband still feels bad after 2 years. We buried her in our backyard with her favorite ball, a blanket & a Dingo bone. Closure, of sorts. So,yeah. It's like losing a member of the family! My heart goes out to both of them.
ReplyDeleteRest in peace, little Nunu! Namaste!
*BEAUTIFUL poem, Nikki!*
What sad news. A dog is the only thing that loves you more than himself!
ReplyDeleteOhh my God I thought it was something serious but it has to be a joke because Gash I can believe they thinking this is hard, it was just a pet.
