Mostly, I write about television, and with this being the home of the Great Buffy Rewatch of 2011, a lot of that television is Joss Whedon-related (when it's not about Lost). Stick around if you love Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead, Sherlock, Lost, BtVS, Doctor Who, or anything on HBO.

USA Today... Today!
I was quoted in today's issue of USA Today, apparently off the front. Go Lost! Go here to read the full story about what fans will do now that Lost is coming to an end (I'm the lead quote, yay!!! And then I'm quoted again right at the end).
Nik: You rock! And you truly deserve the recognition for understanding and speaking on the cultural and intellectual impact of the show! I read that and said, "I know her (kinda)!"
I especially condone your comparison to discussing Ulysses on 3/4 tank. 2 thoughts though:
1) I have yet to discuss Ulysses in person with someone who has truly read all the book and that includes a large number of people who "read" it in college;
2) Do you think the finale will equal Penelope in breathless exceeding beauty of English (well at least Irish) perfection? Yes? Oh, yes!
TM Lawrence: Do you know how much I would die if there was a Molly-type soliloquy to end the show? Me and 12 others would be in heaven, and the other 15 million would be staring at their sets going, "WTF WAS THAT?!" ;) That was possibly my favourite final paragraph of a book EVER.
Yay, Nikki! Just read it and you sound great! Love your quotes... I'm so proud!
I bet you can get a copy of USA Today at one of the big bookstores, like Chapters. Or ask one of your faithful American followers to pick you up a copy. I think you need to have one!
Nice one, Nikki! For some reason, when I read your quotes, I pictured you saying them while sitting in a huge armchair in a poshly-decorated library, holding a glass of brandy in one hand and a Finding LOST book in the other. :)

ReplyDeleteWOW! Great job Nikki! It's about time you had a brighter spotlight :)
ReplyDeleteI would be freaking out - did you get your hands on a copy!?
HAHA!! I just read that article and then I came on over here.!!
ReplyDeleteWhen I saw you were quoted I was like, "Hey know her (kinda!)
She was nice enough to put my video on her site!!"
Way to go Nikki!!
Joan: I don't know where you can get a copy of USA Today in Canada, so sadly, no, the online version is the only one for me!! ;)

Congratulations on the USA Today recognition.
ReplyDeleteSo LOST is Ulysses, while Flashforward is Borge's The Garden of Forking Paths. Are we beginning to notice a literary trend here in television?
Question Mark: Whoa... are you actually looking into my house? Because that was exactly the scene. You forgot the smoking jacket and pipe. ;)
ReplyDelete@ NIKKI: :D
