Go here to read another interview with Dominic Monaghan (TV Guide).
Dominic was also interviewed by Dan Snierson at EW.
IGN review of the show -- he hated it. Okay, just kidding. (If anyone does find an article by someone who disliked it, please send it along.)
BuddyTV is reporting that the Lost season finale scored ratings in excess of two to three million more than usual, and put a little crimp in American Idol's numbers. (yeeeaahhhh!!!)
Lost has been applauded for its portrayal of Muslim characters.
AP review of the finale.
MSNBC review of the finale. (I'm a little annoyed that everyone used the awesomeness of the finale to suggest the rest of the season was boring and pointless. I think they were watching a different show than the one I tuned in to every week.)
In our ongoing deciphering of Ben's journal, the best guess so far has been the following (you can go here to compare to the original diary entry):
AN IMPORTANT MEETING TONIGHT WITH(_) AND (M) REGARDING THE DEVELOPING SITUATION.WE ARE NOW IN DAY 3 OF OUR EXODUS FROMTHE VILLAGE AND I AM, I FEAR, AT THE LIMITOF MY TACTICAL RESOURCES. (J)'s AGENDA,WHICH I DON'T QUESTION, IS HOWEVER A NARROWAND DIFFICULT ONE AND I COULD WELL WISHWE'D HAD TIME TO PREPARE, NOT MERELYFOR THE MILITARY STRIKE, BUT FOR A _______CAMPAIGN IN THE BUSH. WE ARE SHORT ONPROVISIONS (SEASONAL) AND, MORE IMPORTANTLY,THE LONG-AWAITED RE-SUPPLY OF CAMP GEARHAVING BEEN MISSED (AND SO NARROWLY!) ANDJUST AS OUR WATER SUPPLY ROUTES HAVE BEENCUT OFF. WE LOOK LIKE A SAD SORT OFANARCHIST ARMY. MORALE, I HAVE TO SAY, ISAS LOW AS THE ___________ _____ _____YET, FOR ALL THAT, I FEEL APPREHENSIVE
So far I still have no confirmation on the John Lantham obit transcription that someone sent me, so it was either someone taking their best shot at filling in the blanks, or someone from the show throwing us a bone. :) I'd like to think it was the latter, but you never know. Again, the latest version of that is:
"The body of John Lantham of New York was found shortly after 4 am in the 4300 block of Grand Avenue. Ted Worden, a doorman at the Tower Lofts complex, heard loud noises coming from the victim's loft. Concerned for tenants' safety, he entered the loft and found the body hanging from a beam in the living room. According to Jaime Ortiz, a police spokesman, the incident was deemed a suicide after medical tests. Latham (sic) is survived by one teenaged son. Memorial services will be held at the Hoffs-Drawlar Funeral Home tomorrow evening."
Have I missed something major? If so, please send me the link! :)

ah... cool stuff.. but I wonder where that obit came from...
A teenage son??? Interesting. I wonder how accurate that is? My only thought would be, based on the characters we know, the dead person is Michael.
The flash-forward was definitely years into the future. Jack had some gray in his sideburns, and he looked aged to me. So, Walt could be a teenager.
Either that or we haven't met this dead person yet.
My suspicious mind questions whether or not this was a suicide if loud noises were heard by the neighbors. Maybe someone wanted it to appear a suicide when it was murder.
Michael does fit as he was from New York and had a teenaged son. He killed Ana Lucia which, if found out by her family, would be a strong motive for retaliation. And they (the police) could arrange it to look like suicide and cover it up.
Kris: I was thinking Michael, too. It would explain why Jack is upset, to an extent. Michael was always a bit of a sad character, and to think he'd go like that... Also, maybe there's something about Michael, like he, too, left the island, but in season 4 he's going to come back and tell Jack that it's better on the island. Jack won't listen and will get them off the island. Then he realizes Michael was right, and that's why he's so shaken up by the death.
tresbien: Good point on the suicide not being a suicide. I was thinking if it's an apartment loft with really high ceilings, he'd have to have some sort of high stool to get up on if he's going to hang himself. Kicking over the stool would have caused a loud bang, not to mention all the noise he could have made actually throwing the rope up and getting the set-up ready.
This sounds to me like it was written by one of the show's writers. What do you think?

Also, I can see how he would say that Michael was not a friend. He did not leave the island on very good terms....he killed Ana Lucia (whom Jack was bonding with) and Libby in cold blood. He sacrificed Sawyer, Kate, and him for the boat and freedom (if that is what he really got in the end).
The only other solution (if the transcription of the obituary is indeed accurate) is that it is a character as-yet unknown to us.
Nik very good reading,
but for what I'm concerned the name should be Jeremy Lantham, because if you type exactly the way it is, you are missing letters when you write John.. I show you the example ..even the third line missed some letters, I'm not enough good in english to say what it could be.. there Grand should finished the line.. but for the first line I am pretty sure because if you write John.. the line is too short, the 4 is after OF.. I hope you can follow me
The body of Jeremy Lantham of
New York was found shortly after 4
a.m. in the 4300 block of Grand
Avenue.
I put the space between 4300 and block to show where some letters missing
Do you understand?
Thank you Eugénie
my comment don't appeared correctly
I am sorry the system don't represant what I wrote..
"The" should start just a little bit before the letter Y of York..
try it on Word... you'll see what I mean .. Samething for the adress
after 4300 we missing letters there to be able to complete the line as the Newspaper..
Bye.. Eugénie
Jeremy Bentham this is the name..
bye Eugénie
Hi Eugenie: I know exactly what you mean... the length of the line seems longer than John Lantham. We've seen that Locke's full name is actually Johnathan, I wonder if that could be the first name? The last name is definitely an antham, and the first name is definitely a Jo, so I think the original theory that I put in my blog -- that it was Jeremy Bentham -- is wrong. It would be cool if that were the name, since we've had Rousseau, Hume, Locke, and several other 18th century names on here. But I think that theory's probably out by now.
Jeremy Bentham was a philosopher, legal theorist and political radical. If you look him up you will find that a big influence on him was a man named John Locke, also a philosopher. So I am guessing its Locke in the coffin. Maybe the coffin is small because his legs were amputated.
deeneetz: Yep, I know exactly who Bentham is. I think it's because I took him in SO many different courses in university that he stuck with me. He invented the panopticon (I always remembered that because I LOVED the word... it sounded so futuristic), which is basically the prison set-up you see in Oz. The idea is that prisoners are in a circular structure around the outside, with the guards in the centre, able to see everyone. I mentioned in my original blog on the episode (when I, too, thought it said Jeremy Bentham) that he was a contemporary of Locke and Rousseau. That's why I really wanted it to be that name. :)
