Mostly, I write about television, and with this being the home of the Great Buffy Rewatch of 2011, a lot of that television is Joss Whedon-related (when it's not about Lost). Stick around if you love Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead, Sherlock, Lost, BtVS, Doctor Who, or anything on HBO.

You do know it's far too late for any of us to register, right?
Anyone know where I can get a fake American passport so I can register to vote in a swing state?
I'm sorry, Nikki, but I have to roll my eyes at this. I believe an informed and engaged civil society is a good thing. I respect (but do not agree with) the idea that voting is a duty.
However, these poseurs lecturing their fans about it smacks of self-righteousness. It brings to mind the C. S. Lewis quote about the worst tyrannies being those imposed on us "for our own good."
First of all, it's FUNNY. Enjoy the funny, even if you plan to sit back and eat cheetos while your fellow citizens are deciding the direction they want their country to go in.
JJ: Thank you for being respectful, and I know how you feel about this (we had this discussion with the Canadian election) and you know I respectfully disagree with you. I believe it is not just a right, but a duty and responsibility, and you're just not gonna sway me on this one. Sadly, I don't think I'll sway you, either, so we'll just respectfully disagree with each other. :)
And anonymous: You do realize that just because you've REGISTERED to vote doesn't mean you've actually voted, right? In the last US election, 35% of registered voters didn't actually vote. These campaigns are not only to get people off their butts to register, but to actually do it a second time (heaven forbid) so they can vote.
And not all states require advance registration, by the way.
Oh, I guess you know more about our electorial process than I do (lol). I only know the rules in Ohio.
The best part of the election will be on Wednesday when all the claims of "stolen election" "racism/sexism" and formal appeals begin.
JJ, interesting point, but if you've grown up in a country where the right to vote is taken for granted, you might not understand the frustration that those who don't have the right and still want a legitimate voice must feel. As a new citizen of Canada, the right to vote is the most important thing I have been gifted. Also, in becoming a citizen of Canada, I have lost my rights in the old democracy I lived in. Well, I retain what they call an "overseas citizenship" which means I have all the rights of a citizen of that country, except the right to vote. That crushes me -- in my mind, it means that I am no longer a citizen, if my most fundamental right is no longer available to me. They can coat it any way they want, but they've basically told me that I have no say any longer in the way that country is run. I think when you are denied the right to vote is when you realize how important it is. It's why I believe voting is a duty, not a Christmas sweater you can put in the back of your closet because you haven't yet grown into it.
I know you haven't watched season 3 of heroes yet but I was wondering if you heard that nbc fired Jeph Loeb and Jesse Alexander two of the founding writers producers for the show and Tim krings connection to the world of comics. do you think this will make the show better or do you think it is a sign that the show will be over soon or should start talks about setting an end date like lost.
doyous: I dearly love Jeph Loeb. I think this is terrible, though I don't know what happened. It's another nail in the coffin for me.
Nikki: Your post today is awesome. As a Canadian, I agree with every word.
