FINALLY!!!

Congratulations to Michael Emerson for FINALLY winning the Best Supporting Actor Emmy last night. It's well deserved and long overdue. Just rewatching him as Benry in season 2 makes me realize what a wondrous actor he is, and what the show was missing without him. Congratulations, Ben!!

And Kristin Chenoweth (Olive Snook) from Pushing Daisies too! Once again a great show recognized too late.

Her acceptance speech was so sweet! And sad. :( But I love her announcement that she's unemployed and would love to be on Mad Men. Ha!

Yay for Bugeyes :) (that was a Sawyerism, not me LOL)

I was stoked to see Emerson win. He definitely deserves it, and it was one of the few wins for a show I actually watch (yeah yeah, I really need to watch Mad Men and 30 Rock).

I also really dug his acceptance speech. He was moved, but not so moved as to be unintelligible, he was gracious, heartfelt, and managed to say a lot and still be brief.

Yay! I was so happy when he won! Does any one know what he said in Hawaiian? And how cute was Kristin Chenoweth? I can't believe Two and Half Men win anything. Ever. Every other person in the best supporting actor in comedy was more deserving than that guy.

I had no idea! I turned them off so my DVR would get them and I could sleep, but this is great news! It's about time. Now if only NPH had won for HIMYM instead of that guy from Two and a Half Men, the world would be in pretty good shape.

Yeah, I'm still not sure how Two and a Half Men win anything, let alone get nominated.

Joan: he said "mahalo nui loa", which means "thank you very much".

WOOOOOHHHH!!! SO unbelievably deserved!

@Teebore - I know! That show was tired half way through the first episode. Do you know Charlie Sheen is the highest paid TV actor? What?

@Jennifer - Thanks for translating for me!

Some people are saying last night's show wasn't good but actually, I found it pretty damn good - didn't lag too much, wasn't too long. Except for the Sarah McLaughlin(sp?) part. God love her, she can sing, to be sure, but if I never hear that song again - it'll still be one time too many.

You know, I have the Emmys on my PVR, and haven't actually watched them yet (I found out about Emerson this morning and screeched out loud at my computer) and only saw the Chenoweth thing. And my PVR missed the opening number. :( I'll have to see if it's on YouTube.

Oh no, Joan... please tell me she didn't sing "Angel."

Austin Gorton said...

@Joan but if I never hear that song again - it'll still be one time too many.

Oy, agreed.

Nikki, it was "I Will Remember You", though frankly, I could do without ever hearing "Angel" again too.

And I too thought the ceremony was great. NPH was splendid. The show dragged a bit in the Miniseries/Movie section, but that's always true.

YES! FINALLY! He's been nominated 3 times in a row for Benry!! I watched his acceptance speech on YouTube this morning.

You have to watch it about half way through. A speech from the accountants like no other!

@Nikki - almost as bad! It is like that Titanic Song by Celine Dione - if I ever am forced to sit through that song in its entirety again - I'm afraid I might actually drop dead from the horror of it. Ha- I was next to a crazy 50 year old woman at a stop light a few weeks ago - and she was blasting that song and sitting there stone faced...

maybe it was an auditory act of self-flagellation? Hmm.

Like you said, Nik, it's about time. Go Benry! And go Toni Collette! AUSSIE! WOOT!

@Joan Crawford: Totally agree, 2 &a 1/2 Men is bottom of the laugh-track barrel. Rainn Wilson was a shoe in, far as I was concerned. Dwight rules!!!

I was so excited for Emerson's win. My sister and I thoroughly enjoyed the Emmys - it's actually the first year I've ever watched them.

When the nominations for supporting actor were listed, my sister and I started chanting and then when Emerson won we both screeched and threw our hands in the air in victory pumps. The screeching caused my mom to come flying down the stairs to see what on earth was going on.

Good times :D
