I've Got a Theory...

We're moving into Week 6 of the Buffy Rewatch (tomorrow will bring this week's installment) and I just want to thank everyone who is participating as a guest host, or leaving comments on the blog, or simply reading what we all have to say. I was thinking that here we all are, part of this community of people talking and analyzing and giggling and dissecting favourite moments of this amazing show, and I just wished there was a song that could encapsulate what it is we're doing... you know, all coming together, theorizing, throwing in our two cents...

And then I realized, there is one. While I rarely show pictures of my kids on here, I've decided to make an exception and bring you some of the wacky that dominates my household every night. My husband is sitting off-camera (he kept screwing up his line every time he stepped away from his sheet music... he's the guitarist, who'd only played it through twice, so we can forgive him for a few slip-ups in there), and my 6-year-old daughter is the star of the show. And, my little 3-year-old guy does make a cameo (and is making off-camera comments of his own) so watch for him.

So please enjoy the Stafford Family Singers as we celebrate the Buffy Rewatch!

Completely adorable! I love you and Syd rolling your eyes at the messed up witches line. And the bunny solo was fabbbbbulous.

What a wonderful way to celebrate the great rewatch! Your family is very sweet, you all did a lovely job. I'll be giggling over the "except for bunnies" line for a long time. Thanks for leading us in this fun rewatch, and entertaining us to boot!

Your family has obviously come in contact with a showbiz demon. You haven't been wintering in Sunnydale by any chance?

Very wonderful, Nikki! Put a smile on my face. Now I know who should be the halftime entertainment at next year's Super Bowl.

Well, this totally made my night! (And the crowd are loving it!!) But tell me, is this from the musical Buffy episode that I've only heard about but never seen? If so, I can't wait. Thank you for sharing this amazing performance. I'm off to bed now. Nite-nite!

This is SO great. My own 6-year-old daughter, Ella has memorized most of that song, too, because OMWF is the only Buffy episode I've ever let her watch. (We'll be screening the entire series together when she's old enough, and she can't wait.) She loves the "bunnies" part of the song, so I will definitely be showing her this, as your daughter NAILS IT. :) Thanks so much. I love that Buffy can be a family bonding experience.

The sheer level of adorableness in here requires an astronomer to calculate.

This is so sweet and cute and awesome that I think I'll keep it up throughout the day today for whenever I need a pick-me-up. Because it's gonna work like gangbusters.

Thanks for this!

Adorable! You're daughter is really talented. Last time I saw her she was a baby.

Loved the cameo by your 'midget' and his bunnies.

That was beautiful. You obviously have a wonderful family and it was just a joy to watch:)
I feel pretty bad that I'm not part of that community cuz I have yet to see a single episode of Buffy (planning to do that in the summer:) ) and I really miss coming here every week reading through every comment and every post. Your family's wonderful singing made me realize that;)

Great! Your family is adorable. I can't wait to see that episode! I'm a Buffy Noob. Thanks for hosting the rewatch - really enjoying getting to know the Buffy gang. I miss your LOST comments - Your take on Buffy is almost as interesting.

That's awesome! Our little guy is four weeks old, do you think it's too early to start brainwashing, I mean, training him?

Hahaha! Cute and talented! Your daughter kills me at the :54 mark! I can't believe she memorized all of that. She is so tolerant of her brother, too! If we tried that, a shoving war (complete with dinosaur growls) would ensue.

Thanks for sharing, I love seeing these snippets of life at Chez Nikki

Yes it is...and i'm sure you will love it...but no sense in watching it now as you couldn't understand the character's journey"s

i'm actually excited for you to see it...patience

Thanks for the kind comments, everyone! Later in the rewatch maybe I'll post my daughter singing "Going Through the Motions." ;)

I should also probably mention that she's never seen the episode. So she came up with that crazed rendition of the Bunnies portion on her own, based on what the music sounded like. Pretty accurate! (She'd never done it quite like that before, and I was KILLING myself laughing off-screen.)

Joan: She is so tolerant of her brother, too! If we tried that, a shoving war (complete with dinosaur growls) would ensue.

Her brother is actually off-camera playing with his dinosaurs throughout, and the fact that she forgot the line and he yelled, "Bunnies!" made me laugh a lot. And you should have seen the cut that didn't make it... when I pulled him into the shot to sing his final line, she hiked her leg up and kicked him in the head. Then he turned to her and screamed, "No!" and punched her. So... yeah.

;)

I simply adored the joint eye roll mom and daughter gave dad when he flubbed his line.

Poor dad; everyone's a critic. :)

That was awesome, Nikki. Thanks for sharing.

This made my day! Thanks for reminding me of Willow/Tara glaring at Xander during that!

Between this and Raj/Bernadette's My Heart, My Universe number on Big Bang Theory musicals seems oddly popular at the moment!

So after watching this brill performance on Monday, I found myself pulling out my Once More with Feeling sountrack Tuesday morning to play on my way to work. Might not have been such a good idea - I forgot how powerful "Under Your Spell" was and found myself tearing up at 8:40a.m. as I was halfway down Ridout Street...sigh...since then I have listened to the soundtrack every morning and evening in the car and not surprisingly have woken up Sat and Sun morning with snippets of "I've Got a Theory" and "I'll Never Tell" running through my head. Considering jumping ahead on Buffy rewatch to that ep to try and get it all out of my system...is that allowable?

P.S. Nikki - also remembering our trip where we sang and danced on the bridge :)
