Fringe: "In Absentia"

Tonight I watched an hour of television that contained the following:

  • Two men peering down a deep shaft, shot from the bottom up
  • "Written by David Fury"
  • Radzinsky
  • Desmond's head
  • A guy in a white lab coat on a videotape that had been filmed 20 years earlier, delivering an important message that kept skipping out at vital moments.
Oh Lost. Just when I think I've moved on, I get pulled back in and feel painfully nostalgic to rewatch the entire series.

poor Desmond! He usually looks so, how do I say it . . . . put together. But not tonight on Fringe! Of course, he could be on again, as a hunky cyborg or something.

Maybe they'll sell Desmond cyborgs for Christmas.

Maybe the Observers are doing hair transplant experiments. He does have might fine locks.

This episode had a particularly strong LOST vibe this week. "They lie." reminded me of "He will lie, for a long time he will lie." Speaking of which, mother daughter connection anyone? Eh?? Plus tunnels.

He blinked! Desmond blinked! How's that done, then?

Not to belaber the point, but there is just nothing out there presently that is even remotely intellectually stimulating the way Lost was. Just finished my Lost Rewatch last weekend. :(

Andanna: I can't say I disagree, but check out Last Resort if you haven't (that reminds me... I haven't blogged on it yet). The first two episodes have been stellar, and there are moments where I have to pause and try to figure out what the heck just happened. It's more like The Wire-type of intellectually stimulating, as opposed to Lost, which was more like piecing together a puzzle, but EW referred to it as being very Lost-like, and it is. (Maybe that's because it appears to be filmed on Oahu.) ;) But it's really fantastic.
