Mostly, I write about television, and with this being the home of the Great Buffy Rewatch of 2011, a lot of that television is Joss Whedon-related (when it's not about Lost). Stick around if you love Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead, Sherlock, Lost, BtVS, Doctor Who, or anything on HBO.

Oh boy. Now the Xander/Anya debates will start. "Hells Bells" is the second most conflicting Buffy episode for me. Topped only by LMPTM.
Willow has scarabs under her skin similar to Spike during his tests. It makes sense - they're both spells restoring life, only in Spike's case more metaphorically than physically.
Tara is nurturing Dawn and becoming a mother figure, which will make Tabula Rasa all the more painful.
The staging of the end of the episode is similar to Buffy leaving the crypt in As You Were. Though I hate AYW, as we will discover when I comment on the episode. Though I suppose one is the beginning of Buffy's descent and the other the beginning of her re-embracing life. Personally, I would have kept Spike. Silly Buffy.
Did I mention that B6 is a polarizing season? Already the debates begin! Everyone take a deep breath and try to stay calm. :)
There are reasons Buffy can't keep Spike, at least not Spike as he is in AYW. She's ready either. They both have more changes to go through--a whole season more, plus "season 8," maybe?
Next week's episode, Life Serial, is one in which upon seeing it for the first time (in December), has a scene which had me laughing uncontrollably in my hotel room for at least 15 minutes. I was with my family as we went "home" for Christmas in Connecticut. There I am, with my headphones on, watching Netflix on my iPad and then it comes. Unabated laughter. My husband and kids thought I was NUTS. Can't wait to watch it again, and hope I laugh as hard again. My daughter's been begging to see the episode because of my reaction to it, hope she thinks it's as funny as I did.
We also get to meet Clem :)
147 days is almost 5 months, which aside from being a long time for Glory's tower to be left standing* is at odds with the 3 months Angel has been gone over on Angel. [*Then again, Sunnydale might just be expected to shrug this kind of thing off by now — or not, given how ignorant the bank's loan officer is until the demon attack in "Flooded".] Now, Willow might not have visited LA last season immediately after the events of "The Gift" and/or Angel might not have left LA right away and/or there might be more time elapsed during the first few episodes of Angel Season 3 than the bang-bang-bang start of Buffy Season 6, but come next week's episodes the discrepancy in time either has to be explained or ignored.
They never said how much time the Pylea arc took over on Angel, maybe Willow waited until she was magically alerted to their return.
Also, I highly doubt they right from went from entering the hotel and seeing silent Willow to Angel bolting across an ocean. He probably tried a few mystical contact to see if their was a way to bring Buffy back, and Willow not wanting to invovle Angel in this for the same reason as Spike, kept silent on her plan.
I wanted to elaborate a bit on my Willow comments here since want I really wanted to say contains spoilers. Upon rewatching this, I was really not any where near as sympathetic to Willow this time around since I knew where she was headed with the magic. This time I really picked up on the way she was deceiving those she loved, even Tara, to keep all of the details about how she was using magic from them. I also noticed that she seemed a bit arrogant about her powers and very needy about wanting praise. These traits stood out to me and also bothered me this time when I hadn't noticed them during my first viewing.
Ever since the scene where Wilow threatens Giles I stopped trusting Willow entirely when I first watched Buffy.
I dint guess what was going to happen (who could, still shocked by Tara's death and Willows complete turning to evil) but I knew that something bad involving Willow was coming.
Season 6 is one of my favourite seasons of 'Buffy', but in my opinion it is also probably the most heart-breaking. You have Xander leaving Anya at the altar, Buffy being pulled out of Heaven by her friends, Spike trying to rape Buffy, Willow and Tara breaking up, Tara dying after they get back together, and Willow going dark.
The opening of this season is one of the strongest in the series and, other than the first season opener, is the only one where the first few episodes are fairly continuous. The tile clearly comes from the 3rd stage in the five stages of grief, which were mentioned back in 'The Body', and shows how the Scoobies are trying to do whatever they can to bring Buffy back. It's interesting to note that of the characters who are not told of this, two of them tried to bring Joyce back in 'Forever'.
Of course, the worst thing about this season is that Anthony Head goes from being a main cast member to a special guest star, and doesn't appear as much. Still, it had to happen at some point, and this season, which is all about growing up and being an adult, needed to remove Buffy's 'safety blanket'. I love the scene at the airport with Giles and the Scoobies, especially Tara's "Grrr...Argh".
For some reason I don't seem to have much more to say about this week's episodes. Next week we are really introduced to the Big Bad's of this season: the Trio, as well as Willow's magic addiction and 'life'.
Well, i read this story really its interesting.
