Mostly, I write about television, and with this being the home of the Great Buffy Rewatch of 2011, a lot of that television is Joss Whedon-related (when it's not about Lost). Stick around if you love Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead, Sherlock, Lost, BtVS, Doctor Who, or anything on HBO.

Ugh -- I'm gutted. I always held out hope that he would one day make his triumphant return to Hollywood, and all us 80's kids would cheer and sing and dance in the aisles of the local metroplex.
Alas, it is not to be.
Rest in peace, John. You helped make American public school tolerable, and that qualifies you for sainthood in my book.
i am absolutely devastated. more so than michael jackson, more so than martin streek, more so than frank mccourt ... this one really, truly hurts. a talented, brilliant, funny man, with awesome taste in music (he personally hand-picked most of the music that comprised the soundtracks of his films) who will be mourned by an entire generation. but, what a legacy. john hughes, *you're* my hero.
:(
WOW!!! I'm flabbergasted. I have goosebumps; where would I be without those movies? They were a prized possession of my childhood and I am so saddened. At least we can all be there for each other through here.
Wow, it's so hard to believe that the two men who most defined 80s entertainment have been taken from us within months of each other.
Ferris Bueller's Day Off is one of my all-time favourite movies; I used his opening monologue about "licking palms" and "isms" to audition for acting school, and I got accepted, too! I guess I have John to thank for that!
Rest in peace, Mr. Hughes, and thanks for making the 80s so special.
