Congratulations!

A big happy 35th anniversary to Mary and Larry, or, as we know and love them, Marebabe and MiraklMax! Kudos, guys, and big hugs from all of us. :)

Congratulations, you two! And, to echo Nikki's tribute, may you be as happy as a vain French skunk and a cat with white paint down its back. (What? You've seen the cartoons!) No need to tell us which is which.

VW: rinse... We need "repeat" for the trifecta! [Okay, not really, but it was nothing special.]

Congratulations! Happy 35th!

VW: I really wish it was repeat, but it's 'horsting', which is either a) what horstes do when they muck around, or b) a lady of the night's defense mechanism.

Hello, everyone! That was the sweetest thing EVER! Thanks so much. Would’ve seen it sooner, but Larry and I did a little day trip to Oklahoma City to dine at one (OK, two!) of our favorite restaurants. Just got back a little while ago. FUN FACT: On the drive back, along I-35, while still in Oklahoma, we saw a sign that said, “Wichita 108”. Well, I thought that was cool, and I resolved to watch for other “significant” road signs. There were two more: “Wichita 23” and “Wichita 16”. Larry caught my enthusiasm, and he helped me watch for an 8 or a 4, but that was all. We had a fun day. Thanks again for the e-love. You’re wonderful! XOXO :)

Hi, the Vain French Skunk here, nice of ya'll to be so generous and kind. Mare and I were in Locke step all day. We drove past the dynamite storage area in Blackrock OK, it was a blast. I have to go and pound on hot iron, so must scurry, thanks again.
hugs

TMI. You sure have some funny pet names for each other, by the way.

WE HAVE A WINNER! Honestly, Blam, I have never laughed so hard at any comment, ever. That was so choice! Larry's at the blacksmith shop right now, but I called him to pass that along, and he loved it too. ROTFLMAO!!

Blam said...

If you hadn't previously mentioned that he was a blacksmith, Marebabe, I would have been pretty bewildered by that comment .

BardaPH: I get it! She's Big. :)

OK, this is weird, but I’m gonna do it. For two reasons. One is Nikki’s inspired choice of Pepe le Pew and his girlfriend for the Happy Anniversary post. The other is Blam’s reference to pet names. I don’t think I’ve ever mentioned this on here before, but I’m a MAJOR scrapbooker. Five years ago, for our 30th anniversary, I did a page featuring a puppy and kitten snuggled together, with the following text (and see if you can spot the TWO Pepe le Pew references):

“Because it’s our 30th Anniversary, here (in no particular order) is a list of our TOP 30 PET NAMES. (Be prepared: This list is SO CUTE and SO SWEET, it might make you spit up.)”

“Babe, Be-Be, So-More-True-Love, Doll Baby, Cutie Butt, Scooter Butt, Butter Duck, Sweet Petunia, Buttered Petunia, Leetle Cabbage, Sweetness, Sweety Face, Sweet Baby Cakes, Angel Cookie, Angel Drawers, Puppy Breath, Snuggle Bunny, Giggity Bear, Dream Boat, Dream Barge, Schnookie-Pootzie, Poopsie Baby, Baby-Oh-Baby, My Preciousss, My Scrumptiousss, Hooney Boonch, Sweetums, Snookie Woogums, Honey Darlin’, Honey Drippers."

Marebabe: Can I just say how infinitely happy it makes me that the word "butt" features so prominently in your pet names? Heehee!!

Also, I didn't mention this on my blog, but two weeks ago my husband and I celebrated our 20th anniversary. Not wedding, but 20 years since we started dating (since we dated for 10 years before we got married, we don't want to scrap a full decade, so we celebrate both). High school sweethearts... awwww. ;)

So that's why I'm so happy about your 35th anniversary. You guys got married so young, and you stayed together, with a strong and happy relationship. You really are an inspiration to us! :)

Congratulations on YOUR recent anniversary, Nikki! I’ve got a permanent smile on my face today, and part of it is because of your anniversary news. How very, very wonderful. :)

It’s funny, Larry and I attended the same schools for 4 years, but being Baby Boomers and part of an enormous class (over 630), we never met until April of our senior year. Our first date was the day before graduation, and then we had what I like to call “a summer romance that lasted.”

I’m suddenly reminded of our recent discussions of “What Kate Does”, the whole idea of a person’s life going in different directions based on seemingly insignificant actions or decisions. Looking back on my life, I have actually been able to identify THE MOST important and life-changing moment for me, even though it seemed like nothing at the time. Coming into my senior year of high school, I had an elective hour to fill, and the debate coach REALLY wanted me to be on the team. I listened to his recruiting pitch and basically shrugged and said, “Why not.” The reason I had never met Larry yet was that we ran with completely different crowds. But in learning to be a master debater (sorry, I couldn’t resist!) I finally got to know people who knew Larry. I started hearing his name, from people who said I would really like this Larry guy. Turns out they were right!

I sometimes wonder where I would be if I had said no to being on the debate team. Maybe it’s more accurate to think, “Somewhere, in a parallel universe, there’s a Mary who WASN’T a senior novice in debate. I wonder what her life is like now."

Happy Anniversary & congrats to a couple of fellow LOSTies! Wow! 35 years is like an eternity anymore! Way to go! 33 coming up for me & mine. Have a great one & hopefully, in 35 more years you'll be coming on here & celebrating again!

Marebabe said...

@LoyallyLOST: At the rate technology is advancing, will people still be typing on computer keyboards in 35 years? Or will the machines have become self-aware and launched their missiles before then? The technology we already have boggles my mind. 3.5 decades in the future is unimaginable to me. But I know we shall always be fans of the original LOST! :)

Since you mentioned that you’re coming up on 33 years, there’s a thing that I absolutely must share with you. If you and your husband are the sort of couple who enjoy putting an anniversary announcement in your local newspaper, you might consider doing what we did a couple years ago. We announced our 33 1/3 anniversary, exactly one-third of a century! I got the idea when our 25th rolled around, realizing that people mostly like to make a big deal out of quarter- and half-century anniversaries, and basically any other anniversary that’s evenly divisible by 5. But where’s the love for one-third? We got lucky, because ours fell in a leap year, and 366 days is supremely easy to divide by 3. I just counted 122 days after our 33rd anniversary, and there was the one-third. It was great fun, and I recommend it!

Rather cool site you've got here. Thanks the author for it. I like such topics and everything connected to them. I definitely want to read a bit more on that blog soon.

Best regards

Marebabe~GREAT idea! I will certainly keep that in mind! It surely will catch peoples' eye!
I think we will probably have voice-activated modules in 35 years!
HEY! I just realized something! If you take the 3 & 5 in your 35 years & add them together, you get 8! :-O Such a cool thing for this last season!!!
I never thought of looking at the mileage signs! My mom lives in Kansas, not too far from Kansas City, & we take I-35(again, there is that 8!)to get to her house & I will look for the numbers next time we go there! GREAT idea!!!
I just love this blogsite! Everyone LIKES each other & no hateful posts! Surely THIS is a parallel reality?(Cue the sound!)

*Marebabe~I just sat down with pen & paper to figure up what 33 1/3 would be for our anniversary. If I am correct, it is July 16(our anniversary is April 16)& I realized a couple of things~A)our anniversary is on 4/16! Two of the numbers! We will alllllways have that! And, B)The 1/3 falls on July 16~we will be in Hawaii on that date! Where LOST is filmed! COOL! Well, I think it is cool. I could be the only one, tho! LOL! Just wanted to share that.*

Marebabe said...

@LoyallyLOST: I like how you went digging deeper into the numbers than I ever did. Very nice! We should all just raise our geek flags and nail them to the mast.

The only thing I had noticed about the 35 is that it’s the reverse of our ages, 53. I thought that was pretty cool. I started doing that sort of thing when I was a kid. “Hey, today’s the 7th, and I’m 7!” And later on, “22 spelled backwards is still 22.” Fun with numbers. :)
